Modeled after the Trojan horse that concealed members of the Greek army, today’s Trojan Peas bag hides food that is often regarded as open season to other housemates.
Designed by an Australian media agency, the bag depicts sick-looking, past-their-prime legumes whose purpose is to deter people from raiding its contents.
To that end, the Trojan Peas container can accommodate ice cream as well as other in-high-demand, empty-calorie comfort foods. Sixty-plus years ago I shared a walk-up apartment with four, what’s-yours-is-also-mine roommates. Fridge contents were fair game to all so I resorted to covering nonperishables under clothes in a drawer. I wish I’d had a Trojan Peas bag to hide my stash of meltables.
