Leavitt discusses UWO's deficit - The Advance-Titan

UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt and Provost Edwin Martini addressed the impact of staff layoffs and the university’s restructuring plans moving forward during a town hall on Nov. 2. The university ended fiscal year 2023 with $15.7 million of debt, Leavitt said during the town hall. In that year, UWO brought in more than $43.

Former U.S. ambassador talks supporting Ukraine

Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said the United States’s support for Ukraine is needed to avoid the spread of Russia and its allies’ war to American territory. “We have responsibilities both here at home, as well as abroad, to ensure that Americans are safe,” Yovanovitch told students, staff and others at UW Oshkosh.

Staff layoffs stun campus

A total of 140 UW Oshkosh employees received layoff notices on Monday in an effort to curb the university’s $18 million deficit. The layoffs are part of the university’s realignment plan, which also has 76 employees accepting voluntary retirement offers.  UWO Chancellor Andrew Leavitt added that 12 UWO leaders serving in 10 administrative positions are.
