BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Missing Buffalo State College student Saniyya Dennis is presumed to have taken her own life, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn reported in a news conference Thursday morning.
Dennis, 19, has been missing since April 24. Her cell phone last pinged on Goat Island in Niagara Falls around 1:23 a.m. April 25. Police, loved ones and volunteers have spent the past 11 days searching for the sophomore honors student from The Bronx. The Erie County District Attorney s Office partnered with University Police at Buffalo State this week to lead the search for Dennis. Her family met with the DA Wednesday night.

A Buffalo State college student, Saniyya Dennis, 19 was reported missing since April 24. News sources say, her cell phone last pinged on Goat Island in Niagara Falls around 1:23 a.m. April 25.
For 11 days, family/friends and a rescue team have been looking for Dennis. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office partnered with University Police at Buffalo State to lead the search. ABC reports she is presumed to have taken her own life.
Authorities didn’t locate her body. They believe she took her life based on a timeline since she’s been missing. According to District Attorney John Flynn, Dennis got into an argument with her boyfriend via the phone on April 24. She reportedly tried contacting him 59 times and didn’t hear back. Dennis called her male friend in New York and expressed to him that she planned on killing herself.
The University Police Department at Buffalo State College is asking the public to help them locate a student who has been missing since late Saturday night.
The student is identified as 19-year-old Saniyya Dennis, a sophomore at Buffalo State. The Bronx native was last seen leaving her residence hall at around 11 p.m. April 24. Investigators say there is no evidence of foul play at this time but they believe she may be in need of medical attention.

Dennis is described as a Black female, 5 feet and 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 125 pounds. Police suspect she may either still be in Western New York or may have traveled to Yonkers.

Saniyya Dennis has been missing since April 24, the NYS Missing Persons Clearinghouse says she may be in the local area or may travel to Yonkers. She may also be in need of medical attention.
The University Police at Buffalo State are investigating. Police say she was last seen leaving her residence hall around 11:00 p.m. Saturday.
