Shawn Cox left the Wolverines licking their wounds when his undefeated University of Washington Huskie football team beat Michigan 34-14 in the 1992 Rose Bowl and won a share of the national championship. “Desmond Howard had won the Heisman Trophy and we scouted him for three weeks leading into that game. We shut him down,” said Cox who played defensive back. “We ran a very aggressive defense that put eight to nine guys up in the box.”
It was tee boxes Cox, a Seattle native whose mother played college golf, turned his attention to after graduation. Kwemo, 25, played 17 games in Double Blue during the 2019 season, recording 13 defensive tackles and 16 special teams tackles, third most on the team. The 6’3, 235-pound linebacker was a second-round draft choice of the Argos in 2018 and tallied 15 special teams tackles in 11 games during his rookie season. The Montreal native played 28 games over four seasons at Queen’s University and registered 149 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles for the Golden Gaels. Kwemo was named First Team All-Canadian in his final year at Queen’s.
