This Government is a bully, says Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube.
He made the comment in light of the deportation of the University of the South Pacific’s Vice-Chancellor and his wife today.
Mr Narube said the Government has destroyed what little dignity, integrity and compassion that remained.
“We should hang our heads in shame and disgust,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof Ahluwalia confirmed to the Fiji Times he and his wife have been deported and placed on a 10.30am flight to Brisbane, Australia.

A statement from Government said Under Section 13 of the Immigration Act 2003, no foreigner was permitted to conduct themselves in a manner prejudicial to the peace, defence, public safety, public order, public morality, public health, security, or good government of Fiji.
The statement said Prof Ahluwalia and his wife were foreign citizens in Fiji on work permits.
“After repeated breaches by both individuals of the stated provisions of Section 13 of the Immigration Act, their actions have clearly violated the terms of their work permits, resulting in their subsequent deportation,” the statement said.
