WHO Director-General s opening remarks at the Member States briefing on COVID-19 - 11 February 2021

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening, and thank you for joining us for today’s briefing.
As you know, the independent expert team to study the origins of the COVID-19 virus has completed its trip to China.
This was an international team comprising experts from Australia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Qatar, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Viet Nam.
The team also includes experts from WHO, FAO and OIE.
I want to start by thanking all members of the international team for their work.
SherryLynn Boyles has been named president and CEO of the Joint Initiatives for Youth and Families in Colorado Springs. She had served in the role on an interim basis since July 2019. She also has been CEO of TESSA, the local domestic and sexual violence center, executive director of the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault and a consultant to variety of nonprofits. She has bachelor s and law degrees from the University of Texas.
Bob du Pignac has joined Alphalete Plumbing & Heat of Colorado Springs as a senior HVAC technician. He began his plumbing and HVAC career in Palm Springs, Calif., and he spent several years designing luxury homes in Southern California. He has a bachelor s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic State University.
Lindsay Schultz of Colorado Springs has been promoted to CEO of MRC Recruiting, an executive search firm specializing in precious metals mining and the resource sector, that is headquartered in Denver and Albuquerque, N.M. She has been with the company for 15 years and was vice president. She has a bachelor’s degree in human resources and organizational behavior from the University of New Mexico and a master s degree in business administration from Arizona State University.
Tammy Rivera of Colorado Springs will be promoted to managing partner of BKD CPAs & Advisors for its Colorado and Salt Lake City operations on June 1. She has been with the accounting firm for 21 years as an audit manager and was appointed as a partner in 2017. She has a bachelor s degree in accounting from Colorado State University.
