University of New Mexico cross country coach Joe Franklin is not one to make any predictions.
Yet, if comparisons are any indication for the Lobo women’s potential in the NCAA Championships, UNM could be in for something special in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Monday in the women’s meet that takes place on the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course.
Franklin says the No. 3-ranked Lobos are very similar to the 2015 UNM women that many regard as the best team in NCAA history. Courtney Frerichs led that UNM team. The 2016 steeplechase Olympian was one of five All-Americans on the team and one of five to finish in the top 25, a feat that had not been achieved since 2001 by BYU.
