Nurses represented by the University of Michigan Professional Nurses Council (UMPNC) have voted to approve a four-year contract with University of Michigan Health.
The votes have been tallied, and the University of Michigan Professional Nurses Council (UMPNC) is reporting they have attained approval for a work stoppage.
The union representing some 6,200 nurses at Michigan Medicine are taking U-M to court, trying to force them to bargain on a particular issue. WEMU's Cathy Shafran explains.
The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is doing everything in its power to keep nurses on the job following the expiration of their contract on June 30, including promoting Democratic Party politicians and the idea that the university regents will side with nurses’ demands for better staffing ratios and cost-of-living hikes.
