Vanguard News UCTH Medical Interns protest 7 months unpaid salaries On By Ike Uchechukwu Again Medical Interns comprising house officers (doctors), scientists, medical lab scientists, pharmacists, dental therapists, radiologists amongst others on Tuesday disrupted activities at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, over their 7 months unpaid Salaries. The Medical Interns numbering over 150 barricaded the gate of the hospital to demand their seven months salaries which according to them was no longer acceptable due to what they described as insincerity of the management. The protesters, who carried placards with various inscriptions including ” where is the 66 million naira ?”, ” we are dying of hunger “, ” we can no longer buy sanitary pads”, “Our landlords are on our necks, pay us our Seven months salaries”, “we cannot even see where to borrow again”, “a hungry clinician can make a wrong diagnosis, please pay us so we don’t endanger our pa

Resident doctors honour Ayade with Champion of Industrialisation award

Share The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar chapter, Cross River State, on Tuesday honoured Governor Ben Ayade with an award in recognition of his industrialisation strides. The association also commended the governor for putting in place a security mechanisms, including Operation Akpakwu, which has curtailed incidence of crime in the state. Members of the association, who paid a courtesy call on Governor Ayade at the conference room of the Governor’s Office, Calabar, said they came to present him with the ‘Champion of Industrialisation’ Award in recognition of his strides in industrialising the state.
