The largest wildfire burning in California so far this year raged Wednesday afternoon amid high winds, low humidity levels and extremely dry vegetation.
The Dixie Fire, 250 miles northeast of San Francisco, has torn through 274,139 acres and was 35% contained as of this morning, but firefighters control of the blaze was threatened this afternoon with extreme weather conditions.
