Designed from the ground up to provide affordable, accessible, quality and careerrelevant education for adult learners and especially for military learners. And to understand who we are, i need to tell you the story of umuc. We were established in 1947, at the university of maryland, as a department that was charged with serving adult students, particularly those who were returning g is from world war ii. In 1949, we became the First University to send faculty overseas to teach our trips stationed in germany. And this was the beginning of umucs global reach. University addressing high profile cyberattacks, including the hack on Sony Pictures. [video clip] the cyber threat is becoming more diverse, more sophisticated, and more dangerous. That is why we are here. We were at a transformational moment in the evolution of the cyber threat area the actions we take today, those that we fail to take, will determine whether cyberspace remains a realm of opportunity and assets or one that facilitates bold new ideas or whether it becomes a vulnerability. Unless we take action to strengthen our partnerships, most importantly between the government and the private sector, and unless we develop a resilient set of defenses, i worry that a tax like the ones against Sony Pictures entertainment could become the norm. It is not all doom and gloom. You will hear later today from president obama. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We have ideas and a pass and a plan to address these threats. Paragraph . Congratulations for being able to pronounce oleaginous. You are in a small minority, knowing that word. That is in a section, a chapter where i ask whether football has become a cult. You see some evidence of this presented in the book. I am talking about coaches, coaches who have become revered figures in american life. In some cases, justifiably. For instance, if all men were like tony dungy, the world would be a better place. I think coaches have become substitute father figures for a lot of american society. I knew that portions of this book would be very critical of football. I wanted to give a constructive example, too, a
