University of Michigan students know a little something about how difficult it can be to get a resistant administration to stop investing in fossil fuels.
Even convincing the school to greenlight a committee to just explore the issue was a hair-pulling hassle. In 2015, a group of University of Michigan law students tried to do just that but basically got the middle finger from the university, says Jonathan Morris, a University of Michigan Ph.D. student who has long been involved in divestment efforts.

Last month, the University of Michigan became the latest to accept
the obvious that investing in the destruction of society is
fundamentally counter to the mission of higher education. With its
endowment of $14.2 billion, Michigan now becomes one of the largest public universities to commit to divesting from fossil fuels.

University of Michigan campaign still pushing for Go Blue Guarantee on all 3 campuses
Updated Jan 12, 2021;
Members of the One University Campaign have written some “New Year’s resolutions” for University of Michigan administrators they hope can be realized in 2021.
The campaign, which pushes for parity across UM’s Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses, hopes to see a Go Blue Guarantee and more funding for diversity, equity and inclusion on the Flint and Dearborn campuses, as well as medical and legal services for Dearborn and more transparency and inclusion in decision making for students and faculty.
The Go Blue Guarantee, which offers free full tuition to admitted in-state students on the Ann Arbor campus whose families have incomes under $65,000, is key for the campaign, according to Dan Birchok, a UM-Flint assistant professor of anthropology.
