The U.S. Embassy in Athens has announced it is offering scholarship to refugees and migrants with financial needs. More than 40 students are starting their classes this month.
Tenants in Pakistan's capital are complaining that Afghan refugees are pushing up rents. Many of the Afghans say they can't move on because of delays getting visas to Western nations.
The US government has reportedly been speaking to Spain and Canada about resettling more refugees from the western hemisphere, according to news reports. If the EU member state agrees to take action, it would be bringing in up to three times as many temporary workers from central America.
The German foreign minister said more needs to be done to help Afghanistan in the wake of the Taliban takeover. Some 15,000 people which Germany vowed to take in are still stranded there.
The German government flew 345 people from Kabul to Doha on Wednesday, according to the Foreign Office. Meanwhile, diplomatic talks with the Taliban continue.
