Dianne Torres found herself having to decide between putting gas in her car or buying diapers for her daughter. The goal of the United Way Community Baby Shower is to make sure that decisions like that don t ever have to be made. The 12th annual event kicked off May 3 and will run through June 7. Along with John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital and Citi, the baby shower looks to collect diapers, wipes, thermal thermometers, cash and other items to assemble baby bundles for moms struggling financially and their babies and young children.

There’s no better time to celebrate the fun and challenges of every stage of motherhood than Mother’s Day weekend. With that in mind, Greater Boston Stage Company of Stoneham will present a five-day only virtual streaming run of “The Best of ‘The MOMologues,’” May 7-11, featuring selections from the three-part series of comedies about motherhood co-written by Scituate s Lisa Rafferty, Stefanie Cloutier, and Sheila Eppolito. “We’ve condensed the three separate 90-minute versions – “The MOMologues: An Original Comedy about Motherhood,” “MOMologues 2: Off to School,” and “MOMologues 3: The Final Push” – into a 30-minute show that audiences can enjoy in their living rooms, all for a good cause,” Rafferty said.

Leigh Ann Lamb with the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties explains how the approved recipients will pick up their goods this February. Participants will receive a bag of essential baby items along with some first-time parent tips. The baby bags that go out to new mothers is filled with items donated by the community and collected by the United Way.
