Warriors Center James Wiseman and Guard Mychal Mulder Named to 2021 Rising Stars Challenge

Golden State Warriors rookie center James Wiseman and second-year guard Mychal Mulder have been selected to the 2021 NBA Rising Stars Roster, the league announced today. The 2021 Rising Stars Challenge will not be played due to the limitation of having All-Star events all on one night. Wiseman is averaging 12.0 points (5th amongst rookies) on 51.5 percent shooting from the field (5th), 5.9 rebounds (2nd), 1.13 blocks (1st) and 20.6 minutes in 24 games (16 starts). The second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has scored in double-figures 16 times, including two games of 20-or-more points, and has recorded two-or-more blocks in a rookie best 11 games. Mulder is averaging 4.2 points in 10.8 minutes over 32 games (two starts) this season with the Warriors. The Ontario, Canada native has scored in double-figures five times this season. Undrafted out of Kentucky in 2017, the guard played three seasons in the G League before signing with the Warriors as a free agent March 10, 2020.

Ja Morant (U.S. Team) and Brandon Clarke (World Team) were named by NBA assistant coaches to the 2021 NBA Rising Stars rosters. This marks the second Rising Stars selection for each player, who participated in the event as rookies last season. NBA Rising Stars, the league’s annual showcase of premier young talent during NBA All-Star, will not be played this year due to the limitation of having All-Star events on one night. To recognize deserving players, the NBA kept the custom of having the league’s assistant coaches vote for Rising Stars rosters, which consist of 10 first- and second-year NBA players from the United States (U.S. Team) and 10 first- and second-year NBA players from outside the United States (World Team).

Hachimura and Avdija selected to the Rising Stars roster

Washington, DC – The NBA announced today that Wizards forwards Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija have been selected to the 2020-21 NBA Rising Stars World Team roster. Hachimura is averaging 12.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, while shooting .456 percent from the field. He currently ranks second among World Team Sophomores in points and third in rebounds per game and has posted two of games of 20+ points, including a season-high 24 points on 10-of-12 from the field against Portland (2/2). Hachimura posted a career-high stretch of 10 games with 10+ points from 2/8-2/25. The second-year pro becomes the first player Wizards player to be selected to the Rising Stars roster in consecutive years since Bradley Beal in 2013 and 2014. Hachimura tallied 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the World Team in the Rising Stars game last season in Chicago. He was also named to the 2019-20 All-Rookie Second Team.
