Beyond dangerous and those who support it should be ashamed of themselves. They should be publicly condemned by every senator, every representative, every governor across this great country. In fact, just this year, 37 officers have been killed. By the way, thats more than a 20 increase over the same time last year. Because being a Police Officer in this country is more dinin dangerous than ever before. Im having the private conversations with members of Law Enforcement, our peace officers, men and women who will quietly tell you that it is difficult to continue to serve in this environment where theyre not getting the support of their elected officials. Ill tell you theyre getting the support of their communities in many cases, though, but where is the outrage being expressed by those who are elected to serve. And how are these heroes repaid . Cities and towns across our country, including montanas very own city of ma sue la masoula are talking about reducing their budget, proposing a
Others but spreading throughout the country and with it has come the spread of economic pain and economic harm. So covid19 is not on standby and neither is economic pain and follow that his cause. For here in the United States senate, the republican leader, the majority leader has said go home and be on standby. Mr. President , that is not leadership at any time, it certainly is not the kind of leadership that the American People need and should expect during a Global Pandemic and recession era unemployment levels. So why did the majority leader tell people to just go home and be on standby, its because he wanted the Trump Administration to negotiate an agreement. Last i checked, the United States senate was a separate branch of government but with his own responsibilities, yet we have the republican leader who runs United States senate from the floor telling people to go home and be on standby because he wants the president of the United States, the trump ofio administration to negoti
This is 3 declines for each of these markets. Joe, it looked worse overnight well see what happens as we get a little closer to the opening bell youve been watching the treasury. It was lockdown. It was lockdown for quite some time. And it really was about i couldnt help but saying, this is the politicians fault. It was if they had done what they looked like they were going to do as of friday, i dont think it would have been like that but then again, we may have had the, all right, they passed it, were up and then that sells off. In this world, i dont know what to hope for anymore. This is how it works, though. Im going to read something in a second that im so excited about. I even got more excited about this than i did about the futures not being locked down is,000 points. Weet gel well get to that. It was 954 points or something. Yields have come down. The tenyear was down at 0. 829 . Again, that volatility is spreading not only through the stock market but treasuries. Its been amazi
105 in iowa, that is a lot for us. Just a couple of hours ago i was on a call with iowa state leaders who are at the state Emergency Operations center. Let me say that again. Emergency operations center, an e. O. C. You just dont set those up for fun, folks. You set them up when your state is in crisis. They gave us a picture of whats going on with our workers and our Small Businesses on the ground in iowa. Within three hours the state received over 11,000 calls for Unemployment Insurance. 2,000 of them are selfemployed. They wont qualify for Unemployment Insurance. You know what would relieve their hurt . This package, phase three. Meanwhile my democratic colleagues are holding this bill up that would actually deliver the relief that is necessary for these workers that i just mentioned for things that have nothing to do with a crisis. Senate democrats are stalling funding for hospitals and Small Businesses until they get to jam through their Green New Deal. Mr. President , you tell me
Silence in honor of senator Dianne Feinstein. Mr. Schumer madam president. The president pro tempore the majority leader. Mr. Schumer earlier this morning, we lost a giant in the senate. Senator Dianne Feinstein was one of the most amazing people who ever graced the senate, who ever graced the country. She had so many amazing, wonderful qualities wrapped up in one incredible human being. She was smart, she was strong, she was brave, she was xash compassionate. But maybe the trait that stood out most of us was her amazing integrity. Her integrity was a diamond. Her integrity shown like a beacon across the senate and across the country for tall to see and hopefully emulate. Dianne feinstein would typically say when you asked her how was she voting on something, let me study this issue before taking a position. Let me go home and read on it. And when she came back, if she believed the cause of the vote was right and vital to many issues she cared about, she not only voting for it, there w
