I took a whole bottle of pills and woke up strangely enough im not sure why. I at that point in my life i just wanted to be over. And think i was 2021 and then. Within the next year i tried again. I was going to. Overdose on pain medication and sleeping medication. And just hope that id fall asleep in my body it would just shut down or something. When i went to the doctor i had been feeling sick and dizzy and not as it did and. They took my urine and they told me that i was pregnant. I was like you know theres a life and there you know maybe her life will be better than mine and i got to make sure that so. She was very special. Sometimes it takes a different kind of action to cause change to calm. And sometimes. A lot. I grew up on military bases my dad was career army when i was a child when we answer the phone we just have to say colonel brooks quarters and because of that i have as i have an understanding of the level of control that the military exercises that perhaps most in civil

Id like to begin by thanking Ranking Member fleischman for his collaboration in putting the bill before us this morning. There are, of course, areas of disagreement. Almost entirely in the immigration area. I do believe, however, that most of our bill represents a bipartisan agreement, but i dont want to minimize the disagreements on immigration, they are significant and they are important. Before discussing the bill, i would like to acknowledge the departments personnel who work on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Many have contracted the virus and sadly several have lost their lives to it. We owe them and their families our sincere gratitude. As we begin our final day of consideration of the fy21 spending bills, id like to thank you all for your kind words and well wishes and ask you, please, to indulge me in just a few more reflections. I came to congress in 1989, one of just 31 women in the house and senate and to this committee in 1993 alongside only six other women under the 64member panel. This body is better for the 100 women serving in the 116th congress and for the many women in the room today. Its my honor to address the full committee for my final time as the first woman chair. You know, its ironic [applaus [applause] thank you. Its ironic that back in 1993 i had to choose between serving on appropriations or ways and means. I was fortunate to be given that choice. And today, we markup my final appropriation bills in the ways and Means Committee room.
