president biden arrived there about an hour ago after first landing at a marine base outside the city. he was greeted by japanese officials as well as former white house chief of staff and the former mayor of chicago ron emmanuel. emmanuel of course now serves as the united states ambassador to japan. soon after touching down president biden went onto meet with some american marine corp troops stationed at the u.s. base. today that base is home to roughly 15,000 personnel including employees that are japanese nationals. after meeting with troops president biden flew by helicopter to hiroshima where he s currently holding a bilateral meeting with japan s prime minister kishida. the g7 summit officially begins tomorrow. the gathering of the nation s wealthiest democracies. joining us now from hiroshima white house reportr for the wall street journal ken thomas traveling with the president. ken, great to see you. thanks for being with us now. let s start with the matters at
