United Nations, Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba was elected on Thursday to the vice presidency of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, a position it assumes with the commitment to continue fighting to eradicate colonialism in any of its manifestations.
Cuba s permanent representative to the United Nations Pedro Luis Pedroso said so on assuming the post, and thanked the members of the Committee for the trust placed in him. You may rest assured that like my predecessors, we will work with renewed commitment to fulfill the mandate entrusted to the Committee by the General Assembly.
Cuba Reaffirms at UN Its Rejection of Terrorist Actions
Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations Pedro Luis Pedroso once again reaffirmed his government rejects terrorist actions in all its forms, particularly State terrorism that still persists against several countries globally.
Addressing the Security Council on this serious matter, Pedroso spoke of negative consequences terrorist attacks organized from the United States have had on the Cuban people.
The attacks by members of the extreme rightwing Cuban-American terrorist organizations, backed by the US Government, have killed 3,478 Cubans and 2,099 other people have been maimed for life, the diplomat said on Tuesday.
Pedroso also explained that the Cuban Constitution reaffirms one of the foreign policy principles in Cuba, the repudiation and condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, particularly State terrorism.
