Turkish jets strike civilian areas in Iraqi Kurdistan for second time in recent days

TURKISH jets attacked civilian districts of the Gara and Matin mountains in Iraqi Kurdistan’s Duhok province today morning, according to local media. NRT reporter Nihad Oramari said that the missiles had struck areas near the villages of Kurku, Bnavi and Kafia at least five times. No casualties were reported as a result of the air strike, which was the second in recent days. Though the missiles did not hit any homes, they struck agricultural land and areas where local residents collect spring grass and seeds. Turkey frequently bombs Iraqi Kurdistan, claiming that it is targeting the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has a number of bases in the mountainous border region.
