Prime Minister Janez Janša held a press conference at 5 p.m. today to announce that the first case of the UK strain of the coronavirus had been detected in Slovenia.
He said that at least two other individuals were suspected of having the new version of COVID-19.
He said that the individual in question was a Kosovan national with temporary residence who had been to Belgium and originally returned a negative test result.
Janša warned that schools, which are due to reopen to tens of thousands of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class pupils on Tuesday, would need to be extra strict in applying safety measures to combat the spread of the virus.
