Bernard Devlin was spared jail for racially-aggravated harassment following an incident outside a hotel in Barrow. He has been roundly criticised on social media after magistrates sentenced him to a 16-weeks suspended prison sentence. Paul Jenkins, a north west organiser for Unite Against Facism led the criticism of the defendant, who was said to bitterly regret his actions. He said: Devlin was a candidate for the BNP and attended Tommy Robinson s attempted rally in 2019, which was strongly opposed by a Unite Against Fascism protest. The good people of Barrow, who have a proud record of opposing racism and fascism, have shunned him.
