Wilma D. Blizzard
Wilma “Diane” Blizzard, 75, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on April 19, 2021, at her home with her husband after a 6-year battle with Colon Cancer.
Diane was born in Shadyside, Ohio to William and Teresa Jorden on August 23, 1945. She attended Union Local High School in Belmont, Ohio where she met and dated her future husband, Bardon “Buzz” Blizzard Jr. from Badgersburg, Ohio. They have been together since he was 14 and she was 15. They were married on December 24, 1964 in a small private service at a chapel near Belmont, Ohio, while he was at home on leave as an Infantry Corporal in the U.S. Army. For the next 23 years, she travelled with and supported him in his career as an Infantry and Special Forces Officer including multiple unaccompanied overseas tours encompassing 3 to Vietnam along with several classified assignments.

BELMONT The Union Local School District launched new opportunities this week for students who have fallen behind during the COVID-19 pandemic or who want to supplement their learning with more activities.
A visit to the learning center at Union Local High School found students working on homework and projects and preparing for tests under the direction of Elyse Swallie, a ninth grade world studies teacher, and Kayla Mathias, high school math teacher. Swallie noted the middle school/high school group includes students in grades six through 12.

Centerville resident Joe Rosen, who lived with a donor heart for more than 35 years, died Feb. 28. He was 64 years old.
Rosen graduated from Union Local High School in 1974. He was born in Glen Dale on July 17, 1956, a son of the late Mike Rosen and Grace Garrison Rosen.
Rosen received his donor heart during a transplant operation on Oct. 25, 1985. He was 29 years old at the time.

Joe Mark Rosen, 64, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 in OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born July 17, 1956 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, a son of the late Mike Rosen and Grace Garrison Rosen.
After graduating from Union Local High School in 1974, Joe attended Wheeling Barber College and earned his barber’s license. Those haircutting skills served him well years later, helping him pay his way through the Cincinnati Bible College where he received a deaf education degree. After receiving that degree Joe suffered a stroke and needed to have a heart transplant. He received his precious life-saving gift on October 25, 1985 at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Soon After, he was able to continue his career teaching sign language at Belmont College while also running his barber shop in his hometown of Centerville.
