Critical of the citys policy of tearing down encampments and throwing away personal property. The city of course says the encampments are a health and fire danger so they have to do that. Now, as we talked about earlier the protests began earlier today ask ktvu was out here talking to some of the people involved. Reporter a collection of encampments and individuals pitched tents outside of Oakland City Hall on sunday. It is a protest of oaklands handling of new housing and growing homelessness. They point to the millions in funding to support the home tphaols it homeless. That was to provide people with portapotties and water and solar powered hand washing stations. Helicopters are dropping water over big plumes of smoke. Its burning right next to rankin park. So far it has burned five acres. No word on any evacuations. Reported on the east bay highway since november of last year and the strange part of this incident is that it happened just after a tahoe car pile three car pile up. There was a shooting involved here. No one was hit. The search is fron those responsible for a on for those responsible. California Highway Patrol reports there was a hit and run involving three cars. And then after a shooting between people in two cars. The suspect then fled the scene.
