David Abbott, Tucson Weekly Green Lady master growers Tower Crist and Francisco Carmona can help you get started with your pot growing adventure or give advice to the advanced grower. Growing your own pot can be a rewarding experience, particularly when you consider how much it costs to buy your weed at the local dispensary. Expanded Opportunities: City of Tucson updates zoning for pot-related businesses

After months of discussions, the Tucson City Council last week updated the city s zoning code related to cannabis dispensaries, opening a wide swath of potential locations to an expanding and lucrative business sector. The process continues this month as the deadline for the Arizona Department of Health Services to finalize the rules has come and discussions continue in the chambers of Tucson city council. While the rules take shape, though, the marijuana business has quickly evolved into an economic powerhouse, creating jobs and generating revenue for the state and municipalities.

Outside midtown s Harvest cannabis dispensary, Sammy Magro said she had no problem standing in line to get legal THC cartridges instead of purchasing them off the black market as she had done for years. It was a sunny day in the low 70s and the line was moving quickly, so Magro didn t mind the wait, she said. I m excited about this. It s my first time buying legally, Magro said. I m looking for cartridges today because it s better than getting them off the street because they re pure. Bryce Hill said he has bought recreational marijuana in other legal states and he was glad adult-use sales had finally come to Pima County because of the tax benefits.
