Unicoi County EMS Director Adam Copas announced his resignation during Erwin s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on Monday. The BMA also heard the results of their TOSHA inspection and approved some special event applications.
The Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve an agreement between the Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce, the Unicoi County Joint Economic Development Board and RISE Erwin to plan and execute some of the town’s most popular events during their meeting on Tuesday.
The groups first presented their idea of working together on the events during a work session on Oct. 3. During that meeting, the groups proposed the first event they would plan would be the Great Outdoors Festival which would be rebranded into a new festival called the Tennessee Trails and Tunes Festival. The Tennessee Trails and Tunes Festival would lean into the state’s musical heritage as well as Unicoi County’s association with the Appalachian Trail and aim to be more appealing to locals as well as draw in visitors from around the region.
Following a tense Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on Thursday, three groups have come together to propose a collaboration to keep one of Erwin’s most popular festivals going.
The Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce, Unicoi County Economic Development Board and RISE Erwin spoke at the Erwin BMA’s work session on Tuesday to propose the three groups join together to rebrand the annual Great Outdoors Festival.
