Please enjoy your lunch and help yourself to anything you might need during the program. I know you all are very busy so im especially appreciative of you taking the time to be here for this very timely program. For those of attending the form for the first time, the forms began in 1980s as a way to bring expert speakers to capitol hill to discuss critical topics and bipartisan collegial atmosphere and as we promised, we have an expert speaker to address a critical topic. And very bipartisan collegial atmosphere. One thing to note there are a lot of media here so i would ask during the question answer period if you would reserve that for the Congressional Staff because of their limited time co
The next panel. Before i do so, id like to take one minute to pick up on something that we touched on recently today, the tragic events in las vegas last week. And i would like to turn the mic over to our fellow, your fellow legislator and my good friend, representative chris taylor from wisconsin, who has a quick announcement in that regard. Hello, everybody. I just wanted to build on, and i talked to our nevada folks about this as well, the issue, the gun epidemic and the most recent tragedy, and share a tactic that were using in wisconsin that im happy to share with you. A lot of you may have done this already. We have obviously introduced a lot of gun safety bills, including a bump stock ban, but we also formulated a letter that were circulating to the entire Wisconsin Legislature directed at our federal representatives and President Trump, calling on them to take action immediately to pass background checks, obviously, the bump stock ban, and to allow the cdc to do the Important R
Lettere also forwarded a to the entire Wisconsin Legislature directed at our physical our federal legislators and President Trump to immediately pass background checks, bump stock bands, and to allow the cdc to do the Important Research of guns on Public Safety and public health. I think it would be very powerful in every state sent a letter federally to your delegation calling for action, not just pursue these policies in your state, too, which is always a great option. I have a letter we are currently going to send from our wisconsin delegation if youre interested in taking that are adopting some of that. It would be superpowerful if we had all of our delegations come all of our states send a letter, calling on congress to finally act and this president to act on these very common sense gun safety measures. Just see me if you are interested, he would like to see the letter we are sending. Thanks everybody. [applause] ok, let me introduce our next panel. It is fantastic to be here and
China is a partner with us. We exchange students, exchange faculty come all for the betterment of scholarship and for research. Not directly involved in those sordid discussions but it bears, we may be able to play along the way we might think about how we can be helpful to someone. I will add one more point because its important. Theyre making a lot of judicial changes. They established a special is ip core to your ip cases. This is a national court, not local. Its a national court, very much looking through it as an experience or judicial reform, greater amount of transparency into the recordation of their opinions, allowance of our discovery and maybe even greater damages or towards along the lines for ip rights. Those are positive changes were looking forward to. I think theyre working very hard on. I think it is a positive step. Out of are basing office weve been working with the ip court in the last six months they been established. Doing training for the judges and holding faire
Numbers it is still something that is at a young age and something i would like to point out if it is great for the fight to have their resources create faculty and faithbased undocumented youth but its also important to note a lot of Higher Education comes from high school and it starts from there. That is very important to point out. Send the mouse ever mentioning about faithbased. I actually had the opportunity to talk to my counselor when she actually encouraged me. Unfortunately that is not the case for undocumented ear through their First Encounter as a guidance counselor, teacher considered being encouraged are actually being discouraged to even think about possibilities because that is due to the lack of knowledge. Something else we wanted to point out that we fundamentally believe the greater impact for undocumented people when undocumented people are part of the process. After all who better to understand the need for undocumented people than the undocumented people themselve
