On World Press Freedom Day, Iraqi journalists discuss their concerns and demand support
UNESCO Iraq Office and the Communication and Media Commission (CMC), celebrated the WPFD through a blended event (online and physical presence), at the headquarters of the CMC in the capital, Baghdad.
Journalists from all Iraqi provinces joined the open debate on this day in conjunction with the central celebration being held in Namibia to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Windhoek Declaration on Press Freedom.
This year s World Press Freedom Day theme Information as a Public Good serves as a call to affirm the importance of cherishing information as a public good, and exploring what can be done in the production, distribution and reception of content to strengthen journalism, and to advance transparency and empowerment.
