2024 republican primary nomination. florida governor ron desantis on social media yesterday. trump ripped desantis for the crowd size at an event he spoke at in new york city this week, calling it, quote, small and unenthusiastic. he also blasted fox news for covering the event while ignoring a recent rally of his own. in a second post, trump unveiled the new nickname for desantis, ron desanctus. it s a boston red sox of political nicknames, not going far this year. lemire, it s not going to be meatball. meatball, ron meatball dead filed. he thought ron was the winner. it s not going to be used in this way. why is that? meatball? why is he not using meatball.
right now the house of representatives is voting, again, on the eighth ballot to choose a house speaker and for the eighth time, this will end with kevin mccarthy, the republican house leader losing. the never kevin hardliners have been holding line eight times straight, and the fear among the top mccarthy lieutenants is the ns neh-kevin voters who are better with him, but unenthusiastic kevin voters will defect, and not the meh kevin supporter, a former kevin supporter, and so what effect are these negotiations having on the 201 republicans who continue to vote for mccarthy and on the core group who is enthusiastically
interest in one way or another or will become fractious in one way or another and that russia will, you know, look for a way to have a truce, regain its strength and come back hard at ukraine and be victorious, he s very concerned about that. well, joe biden s two and i think that s why that line was there, you will never stand alone, joe biden was saying that not just to ukraine, he saying it to americans, we have to stand with them. but that line was very well directed at the european allies. it s also directed to congress, we see figures on the right wing of the republican party who are to say the least unenthusiastic about aiding ukraine, to my mind these are the same figures who are an enthusiastic about democracy as you and i understand it, period. they see no great moral or strategic advantage in helping ukraine. and, of course, the republicans
