BRANCH COUNTY The Branch County Sheriff Marine Patrol will have one new boat for the summer season after county commissioners Tuesday agreed to cut its contingency budget to buy a new, 17-foot Whaler for a patrol boat.
Commissioner Leonard Kolcz said “as long as I’ve been on this commission I have always thought the sheriff’s department has always had the short straw and put on the back burner. I am proud to see the sheriff’s department is being put ahead of other things right now.”
Sheriff John Pollack said the boat at Gull Lake Marine in Richland met specifications to use in marine lake enforcement work. The price with a dealer discount was $45,858.
