QUEZON CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) - The positive response to the Joint Memorandum circular issued, and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte s directive in easing up the processing requirement for the permits have resulted in an increase in the tower roll-out of telcos, said Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic in a virtual press briefing, Thursday, January 21.
He said these imply increased in the extent of coverage of the mobile operators in providing internet services. More towers mean better internet signal because internet access is dependent on the scope of the prevalence of the towers, he added.
According to Caintic, the challenge now is the fiber roll-out (land-based); thus, DICT is looking at creating an equivalent Joint Memorandum Circular for easing up and regularizing the permits needed because telco providers are requesting for firm guidelines, made-easy steps for permit acquisition, cheaper and consistent r
