but as a nation, we also have an obligation to make sure that all of our children have the re resources they need to learn, because they re spending a lot of time outside of the household. they re spending the bulk of their waking hours in school, and that means that we ve got to make sure we ve got quality schools, good teachers, the latest textbooks, the right technology. and that, by the way, is something we can do about right away. that s why i sent the jobs bill to congress that would put thousands of teachers back to work all across the country, and modernize at least 35,000 schools. congress should pass that bill right now. we ve got too many schools that are underresourced. too many teachers who want to be in the classroom who aren t because of budget con straights, not because they can t do the job.
