is so often the case nobody here in the hawkeye state knows what to expect. expectations are always the name of the game. you could come out a triumphant victory even if you don t make first place. newt gingrich seems to have negative momentum, slipping in the polls, not withstanding what many thought was a fairly good performance with fox in sioux city the other night. mitt romney holding steady in the low 20s and his organization left over from 2008 really matters. today romney was on fox news sunday with chris wallace and just like he has done since newt gingrich began to sustain his surge to the top of the polls he went after the speaker of the house as an unreliable leader and even used the word zany again. here you go. the speaker said this is right wing social engineering. talk about unreliable at a critical time. he cut the legs out from underneath a very important message, the same was true with
two days ago it was the cheer leaders from the philadelphia eagles. they had rock bands. it is a chance for those soldiers coming out of iraq to sort of decompress a bit before they go home. there also isn t a lot to do while they wait for their flights. they have been able to speed up the process. a couple of weeks ago this process was slammed. and you might wait five to eight days if you were a soldier hoping to fly back to the states. the crew that i came in on the convoy last night with said they expect it to be state side at least within the next two days. as they told me, they plan to be the biggest holiday gift their family has ever had. and that s probably true. a lot of happy homecomings now being planned. the soldiers themselves looking forward to going home. came here to do a job. we did it. now we re going home and this is a good feeling to be going home. is it time? yeah, it s time. definitely time. as for the numbers of soldiers that are probably here no
about whether you re in or out and in the end you launch a website. this guy is doing a press conference from underneath a bus that fox news put him under in front of a waffle house as he keeping waffling back and forth. the race is beginning and he might already be out of it. joining me is washington correspondent for gq magazine anna marie cox. all right, i m clear on it. but are you with me or against me? is fox news throwing these guys under the bus? rather than really be thrown to the wolves, i think they re being allowed to walk over to the wolfe s den. this does allow them to do interviews for people like cnn. i think they re not going to find as friendly an audience for what they want to say as they would at fox. and i think these are actually the two who might actually run. i think i have a hard time believes that huckabee or palin will actually do it. i hear you on that, but that s how they make their mortgage payments.

jon: a fox news alert and taking you back to the upper end of the island of manhattan where a wooden tier that sits pier that sits underneath a very important railroad trussle has been on fire throughout the morning. let s talk about what s going o8 with marjorie anders, a public information officer for the metro north railroad. how much damage has been done to that bridge, do we know? it s way too early to tell. it s not clear whether the bridge itself has been affected by the fire. what is clear is that a number, a bunch of woodpilings which are intended to protect the bridge from collision with boats, are fully engulfed. the bridge itself is steel, don t know if the steel has been affected. if it has, we re in big trouble. we re hoping that the fire department can get it out asap and we can do an inspection. at the moment, however, as of 11:45 a.m. all train traffic on
