Photographer R.J. Kern focused on the experiences of children and their animals in “The Unchosen Ones,” an exhibit on display this winter at the Central Washington University Museum of Culture
In 2016, Kern captured images of 65 4-H youth from 10 different county fairs in Minnesota. His subjects were the youth who did not win, the unchosen ones.
