The British won World War Two not just because of the leadership of Winston Churchill (whose greatest fan is the UK PM, Boris Johnson) but because of the national all-party government comprising the ruling Conservbative Party and their ideological opponents in the Labour Party. While Churchill had dynamic ministers like the newspaper proprietor Lord Beaverbrook as his minister for aircraft production, the senior ministers in his war cabinet included the Labour leader Clement Attlee (as deputy prime minister) and Ernest Bevin (as minister for labour and national services) . It was only after the war was over and won, that elections were held.
