The Horn of Africa country has not imposed a proper lockdown since March 2020, when the first coronavirus case was reported in the country. However, a curfew was imposed for less than a month in April last year. Somalis are behaving as if there is no coronavirus, with no restrictions in public places and educational institutions, including universities. Medical experts warned this attitude is dangerous for a country whose healthcare system remains weak because of poor resources.
