By Srishti Prabha | OBSERVER Correspondent - Sacramento City Unified School District and the Sacramento City Teachers Association reached a consensus on 2022-23 wages, paid professional days and more, while the search for a new superintendent continues, interim superintendent Lisa Allen leads the district, and the district is changing the names of three schools to pay homage to Native and African ancestors.
Resolved labor disputes, a search for a new superintendent, an interim superintendent’s to-do list and renaming racist school buildings are some of the hallmarks of the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.
The school district renamed these school, because school officials say the people the campuses were named after engaged in oppression and exclusion of others.
