GRIDCo and CSquared partnership expands Ghana’s fiber network GlobalData Technology 27th April 2021 (Last Updated April 27th, 2021 16:52) Credit: Shutterstock Share Article On 19 April, 2021, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) that manages the electricity grid in Ghana partnered with CSquared, a fiberco that manages and wholesales fiber optic lines in Uganda, Ghana, and Liberia, to lease GRIDCo’s excess fiber lines. The partnership has the potential to boost the penetration of fixed broadband services in Ghana. The fixed broadband market in Ghana penetrates only 0.5% of the population whereas the Africa & Middle East (AME) region’s fixed broadband penetration is 6.7% in 2021. Ghana’s fixed broadband penetration has remained low due to under-developed fixed network infrastructure and years of underinvestment from the state and local authorities.
