Jun 1, 2021 Soon after taking over the charge, the new Director chaired an introductory meeting with the officers of the Directorate.He impressed upon them to work with utmost zeal and dedication and dispose-of all the pending issues with their respective wings in a time bound manner. Later, he also inspected each Wing of the Directorate and asked the heads to maintain transparency at all levels for a healthy work culture. He also stressed upon the need to focus on tapping tourist influx to the Union Territory towards unexplored destinations. He said the primary focus as of now is boosting domestic tourism in the backdrop of the impact of the pandemic on the sector. There is a need for responsible tourism initiatives, he added.

Tourism Directorate hosts Weekend Musical Evening at Bahu Gandola Station

Share Jammu: To promote Tourism in general and recently opened 1st Phase of Cable Car in particular, Department of Tourism today organized weekend Musical evening here at Bahu, Ropeway Station. The series of musical evenings will continue in coming weeks till March 31st, 2021. During the function, a large number of public gathered at Bahu Ropeway Station and were mesmerized with the folklore performances of Jammu Division. The cultural programs were performed by the artists of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Tourists from various states enjoyed the Cable Car ride and got acquainted with the local Dogra, culture.

A large number of tourists from all over India, especially U.P. Gujarat, Kolkata, Punjab, Chandigarh, Karnataka thronged the main meadow at Patnitop and enjoyed the activities organized by the department during the three-day mega event. On the concluding day, various games such as snow man making, sledging, live DJ, Cultural programme, Bon fire followed by cultural night was organized. SSP, Ramban, Haseeb-Ul-Rehman, was the chief guest on the occasion while ADC, Ramban Harbans Sharma, and SSP Security, Civil Secretariat, Jammu, Yaseen Kichloo were the guests of honor on the concluding day of the Winter Carnival.
