Actor explains why notices issued against shows dealing with societal injustices is wrong

Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi, actor Yumna Zaidi has expressed her frustration. Lashing out at the organisation, she explained why such notices are alarming and unfair.
Talking to
BBC Urdu, Zaidi claimed that she doesn’t understand the reason behind issuing the notice and complaints of viewers against a serial which only depicts the reality. “The issues raised in
Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi should be talked about,” said the actor. “I don’t understand how PEMRA can issue a notice against the show’s content.”
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority PEMRA has issued a notice to the drama serial Dil Na Umeed To Nahi for not being in accordance with its code of conduct.
The drama ‘Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi’ addresses sensitive social issues including human trafficking, prostitution, and child abuse.
The regulatory authority in its notice has directed that the content material of the drama serial ‘Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi’ be made in accordance with the code of conduct.
The notice added that the PEMRA has asked the management of the private TV channel to provide details related to the editorial board within five days.
