Virtual conversation with Portuguese Ambassador Domingos Fezas Vital O Jornal LOWELL – UMass Lowell’s Saab Center for Portuguese Studies will present a virtual conversation with Portuguese Ambassador Domingos Fezas Vital on Thursday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. Moderated by Prof. Jarrod Hayes, an associate professor of International Relations at UMass Lowell, this lecture will address the U.S.-Portugal bilateral ties from the earliest years of the United States, when Portugal recognized the United States in 1791, following the Revolutionary War. Since then the two countries have collaborated on a range of issues.  In this conversation, Ambassador Fezas Vital will discuss his almost seven years as the Portuguese Ambassador to United States, the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and accomplishments of Portugal in the EU.

Sherman, held a free public talk free about U.S-Portuguese relations and its importance in today’s world. Frank Sousa, director of UMass Lowell’s Saab Center for Portuguese Studies and professor of Portuguese in the Department of World languages and Cultures, says Portugal and the U.S had a very strong bond since the beginning.
