this is a fox news alert. terror suspect umar farouk abdul mutallab has just been charged. he has been charged with attempting to destroy a united states airplane, northwest flight 253 filled with with 278 people en route from amsterdam to detroit. kaarina, what is the latest for it suspect? it was just hours guy that umar farouk abdul mutallab had his initial appearance on the intelligence filed against him. it happened at the hospital where he is actually being treated for his burns that happened to his leg, groin and also hand area. i spoke to one of the two reporters allowed into the initial appearance today and he told me that abdul mutallab was brought in by wheel chair and the district judge read the charges against him and there were two u.s. attorneys as well as two federal defenders present in the room. we are told abdul mutallab was calm and he did not seem nervous or worried at all. he answered with mostly i do understand, no, i do not understand, a lot of head
