Amotekun, OPC vigilante arrest 11 suspects terrorising Oyo residents

Daily Post Nigeria Published DAILY POST reports that the eleven people were arrested at different locations in the state. Amotekum Commandant in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju explained that six of the suspects were arrested at Kajola Local Government of the State. Olayanju in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday stated that the suspects were arrested while the security agencies were on their joint routine patrol in the early hours of Thursday. He added that the suspects were arrested in separate incidents following encounters at two illegally mounted road blocks. The suspects include, Awali Atine, Ibrahim Abu, Shuaib Balau, Ibrahim Musa, Abdullah Masika and Umar Aliu Masika.

Share Operatives of Oyo State Security Network Agency comprising Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) have arrested six bandits at Kajola Local Government of Oyo state. The arrest was made at about 4am, on Thursday, along Okeho-Ilua and Okeho – Iseyin Road, while the operatives were on joint routine patrol along two separate routes within the local government area.  Making the disclosure in an issued statement, the Commandant of Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd) said that the suspects were arrested following encounters with them at two illegally mounted roadblocks.  He gave their names as Auwalu Atine, Ibrahim Abu, Shuaib Balau, Ibrahim Musa, Abdullah Masika and Umar Aliu Masika.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Adekunle Opayemi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Nov. 26, at about 10:45pm at Christ Apostolic Church Gudugba village via Wasimi in Ogun. Opayemi said that the defendants conspired with others at large, while armed with weapons to rob church members while holding a vigil. He added that the defendants kidnapped one of the church members, Mrs Atolagbe Mojisola, 48, and prevented anyone from having access to her. He said the gang robbed one Evangelist Obisesan Seye, Mrs Oyere Temitope, Pastor Sanyaolu Zacheus, and Mrs Atolagbe Mojisola, of their phones, values yet unknown, as well as the sum of N36,000.
