The County of Maui Department of Water Supply reports this morning that water sample testing has removed Naʻalae Road in Kula from the list of areas where a boil water advisory remains in effect. Residents of Naʻalae Road no longer need to boil water as a precaution against findings of trace amounts of E. coli in the Upper Kula water system.
Residents of Naʻalae, Waipoli, Polipoli and Middle roads, Kula Highway at Kēōkea, Thompson Road and ʻUlupalakua advised to continue boiling water as a precaution against bacteria.
The Department of Water Supply is advising Upper Kula residents and businesses from Crater Road to Kanaio to boil water before consumption. Trace amounts of E coli bacteria have been detected within the last 24 hours, and out of an abundance of caution, a boil water advisory is in effect. There was no presence of E coli in earlier water sampling.
The Department of Water Supply has lifted a boil water advisory for some Upcountry areas as department personnel continue water sample testing and flushing and clearing waterlines.
