The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Council agreed on April 20 on the appointment of Greece’s Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, to be the Chair of the Global Strategy Group (GSG).
This designation will formally take place at the next GSG meeting in November 2021, to be organised by Greece.
The Greek Minister will succeed Marie-Gabrielle Incichen-Fleisch from Switzerland, Chair of the Global Strategy Group since 2018.

The Global Strategy Group, which consists of Deputy Ministers, Secretaries General and other prominent officials, aims at facilitating cooperation between the Member States of the OECD.
The GSG also contributes to the preparation of the annual Ministerial Councils of the OECD, adopting however a more long-term perspective.

California reported a 30% drop in new Covid-19 cases compared with the state’s 14-day rolling average. Fatalities in the U.S. dropped below 4,000 for the first time in three days.
A doctors’ group in the U.K. has urged the government to review the 12 weeks allowed for people to receive a second dose of the vaccine produced by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE. The manufacturer suggests 21 days. Meanwhile, France’s top health authority recommends doubling that three-week gap as a way to stretch supplies and speed inoculations.
