The South African Police Service (SAPS) have announced the suspension of all eight officers who were accused of assaulting four civilians on the N1 in Johannesburg.
The officers who are all part of Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s VIP protection unit, can be seen in a video - that went viral last week - assaulting three civilians on the N1 highway in Fourways.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating criminal charges of assault and eight officers implicated in the shocking incident have now been served with suspension notices.
