Share The County representative of UNFPA, Ulla Elisabeth Mueller, on Tuesday declared that out of the estimated over 7.8 million population in Oyo State, the fifth most populous state in Nigeria. 17.1 per cent of women in the state have experienced physical violence since age 15. Mueller added that 3.2 per cent have experienced sexual violence and 13 per cent have experienced spousal violence, adding that report from the state gender violence response team also showed a consistent increase in the number of women who report violence of all forms from 132 in 2019 to 768 in 2020 due to the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic and its social and economic impacts and to 227 as at April 2021.
