An exclusive investigation by Vanguard revealed that from the thousands of fleeing inmates some were said to have taken up menial jobs within and outside the Owerri metropolis to raise money.
Vanguard was told that the choice areas for these inmates were brothels, motor parks, market square, even as some were said to have started the hawking trade. Also, some were said to have taken refuge in uncompleted buildings as their home as well as mingle around nightlife hotspots.
Eyewitnesses narrated their experiences to Vanguard with the said inmates. The places visited by Vanguard include Control post along Onitsha road, Whethdral roundabout up to Poly Junction, IMSU junction as well as Irete axis on Owerri/Onitsha road.

Some of the 1,800 inmates who escaped during the Owerri jailbreak have taken up cleaning and menial jobs for survival, a report by Vanguard stated.
According to the report, the escapees took up majorly hawking and cleaning jobs in brothels, motor parks and market squares to raise money for their feeding and survival.
Eyewitnesses also told Vanguard that the inmates have taken refuge in uncompleted buildings as their home as well as mingle around nightlife hotspots.

According to the NCDC, the 134 new cases are reported from 11 states- Kwara (37), Lagos (32), Ondo (23), Nasarawa 13), Fct – (8(), Kaduna (4), Rivers (6), Osun (3), Delta (3), Edo (2), and Borno (2).
Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 57,790, followed by Abuja (19,669), Plateau (9,024), Kaduna (8,921), Rivers (6,909), Oyo (6,838), Edo (4,875), Ogun (4,617), Kano (3,908), Ondo (3,172), Kwara (3,083), Delta (2,599), Osun (2,527), Nasarawa (2,325), Enugu (2,237), Katsina (2,083), Gombe (2,030), Ebonyi (2,007), Anambra (1,909), Akwa Ibom (1,765), and Abia (1,665).
Imo State has recorded 1,642 cases, Bauchi (1,521), Borno (1,327), Benue (1,188), Adamawa (1,051), Niger (930), Taraba (910), Ekiti (865), Bayelsa (852), Sokoto (774), Jigawa (518), Kebbi (442), Cross River (366), Yobe (313), Zamfara (232), while Kogi state has recorded 5 cases only.
