UK banks are forcibly shutting down the accounts of companies doing business with Ukraine due to concerns about sanctions against Russia and money laundering issues, an American newspaper reported, citing a letter from the British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (BUCC).
ukranian authorities have said air strikes hit apartment blocks on the outskirt of the countries third largest city 0dessa. no casulties are known but the port city is thought to be russia s next target with russian warships stationed in the black sea. joining me now from his home in north london military expert sidharth kaushal. thank you so much forjoining us. first of all, 0desa is thought to be the next target for russia but what makes it strategically significant? it is strategically significant because of its centrality to ukraine s economy, roughly 70% of the country s experts go by sea and roughly 70% of the experts go through edessa, given that russia holds much of the black sea coast already come up with the exception of mariupol which may well fall in the coming weeks, 0desa really becomes ukraine s last outlet in the sea and control of it would give russia a stranglehold of the
pound away at cities and territory that they feel the need to own. i think i should now begin to turn to odesa because. that is logically the next place to go in the south, and there seems to be more ships in the black sea pointing at it. the next big strategic prize could be odesa because that would isolate ukraine s economy from the black sea. let s turn to the port city of kherson it s under russian control. but resistance there continues. this shows more protests against russia s occupation people confronting russian trucks in the city centre. and as you can see from this footage, gunfire was used at this protest. let me also show you these pictures from mykolaiv it s near odesa. it s also a black sea port. and it s been under almost daily attack from russia. this is a hotel. bbc panorama has traced footage of another missile strike in mykolaiv which was posted on social media earlier this month. the programme spoke to mikhail,
