Ukraine’s largest egg producer greatly decreases production
Ukraine s largest egg producer Avangard experienced a twofold decline in egg production due to continuing pressure from law enforcement agencies over the past year, the company s owner Oleg Bakhmatyuk told the local publication Interfax. We now produce 170 million eggs per month, while we used to produce 300 million, and in May [of 2020] we produced 350 million eggs, 170 million of which we exported. This month we will maybe export 20 million, he said in April. Avangard experienced a twofold decline in egg production over the past year. Avangard to close several production facilities in Ukraine
In 2020, Ukraine’s biggest egg producer Avangard shut down 8 production facilities, cutting 3500 jobs.
Avangard operational director Vladimir Rudenko told local press that this decision was made partially due to a continuing conflict with the Ukraine National Anti-Corruption Bureau. If the administrative pressure, which the company deems unjustified, remains, Avangard would have to close several more facilities in 2021, Rudenko added. “Our company holding is dealing with legitimacy issues. The Ukraine National Antimonopoly Committee is putting forward some ridiculous cases, stating that 2 of our biggest and most modern poultry farms, which have been running for 7 years, are non-existent,” Rudenko said.
